It's Obama! in So. Cal
We had a short trip to a place called Del Mar, a bit north of San Diego. We spent the drive listening to election coverage. You know we weren't too worried about the outcome - our own personal poll of keeping track of all the campaign stickers we saw on cars gave us a clear picture that Obama would win. Ok, so we were a bit nervous. But the turn out wasn't so bad. We spent election night with a split couple. The husband - definitely not a fan of Obama, the wife - a fan, but kept kind of quiet. So they took us out to dinner, and he continued to tell us that Obama wasn't the answer, asking if we had houses, and that more of our money would be taken. Oh hey, mister - we don't have any money, or a house, and that car in your driveway - not ours. So Phil and I were thrilled that Obama won, despite everything else. And we surely enjoyed dinner, thanks Paul :)
As we watched different states go Blue we got excited, we waited for NC but it never came. However Phil's county in SC went blue. Great job guys! And we tried to find out the outcome of Prop 8 in california. Much later we learned that Prop 8 passed, once again banning gay marriage in California. Maybe one day we can move forward. You win some you lose some I guess.
In the morning we woke up way to early and went deep sea fishing with Heather. It was tons of fun despite hugging the toilet, and only catching one small fish each. But it was beautiful out there. The rest of the day we napped and then Phil and I went for a 'romantic' walk on the beach. ha. until he decided to go for a run and didn't meet up where we planned to, leaving us both walking back to the house alone and in the dark. Though he was only a few blocks behind I think.
After a fabulous dinner, we curled up on the couch and watched "into the wild" and then hit the sack. The next morning we got a knife and fork breakfast and hit the road for Arizona, proud in the fact that we will have an African American president!
